Our History

Our Current Building

The original formation of our church dates back to September 20, 1848 when a few families and others began worshipping in homes and school houses.  In 1856, they received a donation of land in Franklin Township. They built a church building and named their church Center Grove.  In 1864, the building burned, and  many of the members changed their regular meeting place to Darlington.

In 1866, the families meeting in Darlington built the original part of our present structure and named it the Darlington Christian Church.  In 1891, the annex to the church was built.  The remaining members of the Center Grove church left their building in 192l to reunite with the Darlington Christian Church. When these two groups reunited, they moved part of the Center Grove building and used it to remodel the structure in Darlington.  In 1931, the Darlington Christian Church joined the Congregational denomination, and became what we now know as the Congregational Christian Church of Darlington.

We are not currently affiliated with any denominational organization. We have people of all ages and backgrounds in our church family.
