Led To Give, Pt1 (Pastor’s Remix)

In 1 Chronicles 29:1-9 we see King David being led to build a temple for God.  This would not be like the tent of meeting that Moses and the children of Israel had built in the wilderness.  No this temple, Solomon’s Temple would be grande, beautiful and splendorous!  David knew that to build this temple it would require great sacrifice by the people and by their leaders!  David knew that the people would never get behind something that they didn’t see their leaders first supporting all the way!  So what did King David do?  King David set the example!

Scripture tells us that not only did King David give but he even gave “over and above” (v3) so that the temple could be built.  But the inspired giving didn’t stop there.  The leaders under King David then gave in a manner that inspired the people to give of all they had (v9).

We give in ways that reflect our belief and trust in God.  True we may speak as if God is everything to us and that we fully trust Him in all things but one can definately argue that the truest test of the position that we give God in our lives can be seen by the place we give Him concerning our finances.

Now leaders are placed in the position of leadership for one reason, to lead by example.  Here’s an important question to consider.  If leaders do not live and act the ways in which God commands, then how can we expect anyone else to?  This lesson is not only true for church leaders but for leaders in the home, workplace and every other aspect of our lives.

If you’re a leader, then it’s time to set the example!  If you expect others to follow you then they must believe in the one they’re following.  What do others see in your life?  What do others see in your habits? Are you “walking the walk” or just “talking the talk”?
